If a MacQuisition dongle or SSD device appears to have a hardware failure, it might just need to be erased to a fresh state. Please follow the steps below:
1- Open the Finder app on macOS and select on the MQLICENSE partition.
2- Copy the .BBTLicense file from the MQLICENSE partition to your desktop.
NOTE- the .BBTLicense file is a hidden file. To reveal hidden files on macOS, use the three shortcut keys SHIFT + CMD + . (period)
3- Open the Disk Utility app (found in the Applications → Utilities folder).
4- Select the MacQuisition device at the parent disk level.
NOTE- to show devices on macOS Mojave or Catalina, click on the [View] menu and choose [Show all Devices].
5- Click on the Erase tab.
6- Erase the device with the format OS X Extended (Journaled).
7- Copy the .BBTLicense from your desktop onto the erased device.
8- Download the MacQuisition updater app from the Software Downloads page.
9- Launch the MacQuisition Updater app, enter the admin credentials, then click on the Update Now button.
NOTE- if you are using macOS Catalina 10.15, you will need to give the updater app 'Full Disk Access'. You can find the instructions here.
10- The MacQuisition updater app will detect the license file and install the application onto the erased device.
11- After the updater app completes, launch the MacQuisition app from the Application volume to make sure MacQuisition launches properly and detects the license.
NOTE- if you are launching MacQuisition on macOS Catalina 10.15, you will need to follow additional instructions from here in order for MacQuisition to detect the license file.
