Apple made changes to iOS 13 which impacts devices that do not have the encrypted backup feature turned on. If an iOS 13 device does not have encrypted backup enabled, it is not possible to acquire and parse the device's Call logs, Safari browsing History or Safari Open Tabs.
As of November 2019, Apple does not turn on encrypted backup by default. The user of the device has to choose to encrypt the backup. At this time, BlackLight does not have the option to turn on the encrypted backup unless BlackLight detects a Mobile Device Management profile. (MDM is not common outside of corporate environments). If you choose to enable the encrypted backup on your own, one option is to use the Apple iTunes app.
Note- For Windows users, please go to Apple website here https://www.apple.com/itunes/ select the link for the Windows page and download the Windows version of the iTunes app directly from Apple. Even though Apple suggests downloading iTunes from the Microsoft Windows Store, the Windows Store version does not have the necessary driver support for BlackLight and Mobilyze.
Once the encrypted backup feature is turned on, you can enter the password and acquire an iOS 13 iPhone/iPad directly with BlackLight or Mobilyze. The Call logs and Safari history will be parsed and displayed in the case file. BlackLight also supports importing and decrypting an encrypted backup from iTunes with a password.
