Apple made changes to macOS Catalina 10.15 which impacts how MacQuisition detects the license file on the dongle.
If you want to run MacQuisition live on Catalina with admin privileges, you must give MacQuisition Full Disk Access first.
1- Go to the [Apple Menu] and open [System Preferences]
2- Select on [Security & Privacy] and then click on the Privacy tab
3- Click on the padlock in the lower left corner and enter admin credentials
4- Select on 'Full Disk Access' in the left margin
5- Drag the MacQuisition app into the right pane
OR click on the + symbol under the right pane and add the MacQuisition app from the Application volume of your MacQuisition dongle/device
Now you can launch MacQuisition, detect the license file, and have Full Disk Access to this Mac.
Note: versions 2019R1.2 and older do not have full support for Catalina, therefore you will not be able to load all kernel extensions. For more information see this article.
If you do NOT give MacQuisition Full Disk Access on Catalina, you will encounter the License Required message below.
"This Software does not detect a license file on the attached MacQuisition USB device. Please install a license file to continue."
In some cases, you will not have the admin password to give MacQuisition Full Disk Access or allow root access. Follow the steps below to run MacQuisition restricted on Catalina.
1- Launch MacQuisition application
2- Click on the 'Cancel' button
3- Click on the 'Run Restricted' button
4- Click on the 'Ok' button
MacQuisition will detect the license file and you can proceed with a logical Data Collection.
